Xavier Gonzalez demonstrated that a quick knockout doesn't always require starting a fight at full speed. The Spaniard from T. Saengtiennoi camp needed just 1 minute and 18 seconds to turn out the lights on Exza Wankhongohm on Friday (30) during The Inner Circle 36 / ONE Friday Fights 176 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok. The victory came in the first round and earned the fighter a bonus.
The flyweight Muay Thai clash was the co-main event of the night and marked Exza's debut in ONE Championship. Nevertheless, Xavier did not face an unknown opponent.
After the fight, the Spaniard revealed that they had both been in the same Muay Thai circles for years, participating in the same events. This familiarity aided in his preparation: Xavier was aware of Exza's style and how he typically attacks.
This insight made all the difference in the ring. Instead of rushing for an immediate knockout, Xavier chose to start the round calmly, observing his opponent's movements and waiting for the right opening.

That opening came quickly. Gonzalez found the perfect moment to unleash a powerful left, sending Exza to the canvas and ending the bout at 1:18 of the first round.
The outcome confirmed the strategy: a short fight, but built on reading the opponent and choosing the right moment to deliver the decisive blow.
In addition to the knockout and the bonus, Xavier made sure to thank the Thai fans who have supported him throughout his journey. According to him, being able to repay that support with a standout performance was a source of joy.
For Gonzalez, the night at Lumpinee ended in the best possible way: victory, bonus, and another demonstration that in Muay Thai, knowing when to attack can be just as valuable as the power of the strike.
