The Faculty of Muay Thai Studies and Traditional Thai Medicine at Rajabhat Muban Chom Bueng University hosted teachers and approximately 200 high school students for an event focused on learning and engaging with Muay Thai on September 10, 2026.
The program took place at the university's Muay Thai learning center, providing students with insights into the sport, reinforcing the university's role in preserving, teaching, and promoting this martial art, which is one of Thailand's key cultural heritages.
Rajadamnern Referee Participated in the Event
Among the professionals who participated as speakers was Phongphat Wongwai, a Thai referee with experience in various Muay Thai stadiums across the country, who currently officiates weekly at events held at the Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok, one of the most traditional venues for the sport worldwide.

Wongwai's presence added the perspective of someone who directly observes professional Muay Thai from the ring. A referee's experience in high-level events allows students to learn not only the technical aspects of the fight but also topics related to the rules, conduct of matches, discipline, and the values inherent in Muay Thai.
The involvement of professionals actively working in the competitive circuit brings students closer to the reality of the sport and helps ensure that the knowledge shared in an academic setting aligns with what occurs at major Muay Thai events in Thailand.

Phongphat Wongwai Also Takes on Role at the University
This participation comes at a special moment in Phongphat Wongwai's journey within the institution. The Faculty of Muay Thai Studies and Traditional Thai Medicine announced his appointment as assistant dean for image promotion and Muay Thai outreach, with duties commencing on September 9, 2026.
This appointment strengthens the connection between professionals with practical experience in Muay Thai and the academic work being conducted by the university. In addition to educating students, the institution promotes and preserves knowledge related to the sport and Thai culture.
The event with around 200 students also highlights the importance of initiatives aimed at younger generations. By connecting youth with teachers, specialists, and professionals active in the Muay Thai scene, the university contributes to the continuity of tradition and fosters a broader understanding of the sport beyond its competitive aspect.
A Bridge Between Tradition, Education, and Professional Muay Thai
Rajabhat Muban Chom Bueng University maintains an academic structure dedicated to the studies of Muay Thai and traditional Thai medicine, a combination that reflects the cultural and educational significance attributed to this knowledge in Thailand.
The organization of activities for high school students, along with the participation of professionals like Phongphat Wongwai, establishes a bridge between academic training, the tradition of Muay Thai, and the professional environment of Thailand's major stadiums.
For the approximately 200 young attendees, the event represented an opportunity to gain closer insight into a cultural expression that remains deeply connected to Thailand's history and identity.
