Chun Kiatpetch Calls for Transparency in Selecting Muay Thai Fighter of the Year: “The Whole Country Will Be Ashamed”

The award for Muay Thai Fighter of the Year has yet to be presented, but concerns over the selection criteria have already gained significant attention in Thailand. Veteran promoter Chun Kiatpetch made a direct appeal to the committee responsible for the award, urging that the decision be fair, transparent, and free from controversy.
In a video shared by the Siam Muay page, Chun discussed the selection of the Outstanding Professional Muay Thai Fighter of 2568 (2025), an award from the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) that will be presented on December 16 during the National Sports Day ceremony of 2569 (2026).
The veteran emphasized that he does not want the award to become a source of drama. For him, the selection must be pure and just. Otherwise, he warned, “the whole country will be ashamed.”
Personally, Chun seeks transparency and wants to ensure that nothing undermines the world of Thai boxing.

Throughout his career, he received the SAT's Outstanding Promoter award for four consecutive years. Today, his children run the promotion.
With this background, Chun calls for accountability from the committee members. According to him, those honored with the role must prioritize integrity and transparency for the sake of Muay Thai.
The Winner Must Receive the Award with Dignity
Chun also addressed the athlete who will be chosen: in his view, the recipient of the award must accept it with dignity, ensuring that no suspicions arise afterward.
With the ceremony set for December 16, the veteran's message is clear for the committee.
